Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information DodgeCheckEngineLight.com (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects when you visit the site, how that information is used, and the choices you have. We try to collect as little as possible. This site is a reference blog about diagnosing the Dodge check engine light — it has no shopping cart, no user accounts, and no newsletter.

Effective date: June 13, 2026

Who we are

Our website address is https://dodgecheckenginelight.com. You can reach us any time at contact@dodgecheckenginelight.com.

What we collect

We do not ask you to create an account or hand over personal details to read our guides. The data that does get collected falls into three buckets:

  • Server and hosting logs. Like virtually every website, our hosting provider automatically records standard request data — your IP address, browser type and version, the page you requested, the referring page, and a timestamp. These logs are used for security, troubleshooting, and to keep the site online. They are not used to build a profile of you.
  • Cookies and similar storage. A small number of cookies are set in your browser, mainly to remember your cookie-consent choice and to help the site load quickly. The full list is in our Cookie Policy.
  • Messages you send us. If you email us, we receive whatever you choose to include — your name, email address, and the content of your message — so we can reply.

We do not run a comment section that requires your data, we do not sell mailing lists, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Cookie consent

When you first arrive, a consent banner (provided by the Real Cookie Banner tool) lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies and embedded content. Your choice is stored so you are not asked again on every page. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time by reopening the privacy settings from the banner link or by clearing the cookies in your browser. See the Cookie Policy for details.

Amazon affiliate links

DodgeCheckEngineLight.com participates in the Amazon Associates Program. Some of our buyer guides and product mentions contain affiliate links. If you click one of these links and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. To make this work, Amazon attaches a tracking parameter (our associate tag, dodgecel20-20) to the link, and Amazon may set its own cookies once you land on their site. We never see your card details or what you ultimately buy — only aggregate, anonymized earnings data from Amazon. How Amazon handles your data is governed by Amazon’s own privacy notice.

Embedded content from other websites

Some guides include embedded videos from YouTube. When such content loads, the third-party provider (YouTube/Google) can receive your IP address and set its own cookies, exactly as if you had visited that site directly. Our consent banner asks for your permission before loading this embedded content. The site also uses WordPress emoji assets, which under default settings can load a small script from a WordPress.org domain.

Analytics

We do not run Google Analytics or any third-party advertising network on this site. Beyond standard hosting logs and the Google Search Console data that Google provides to site owners about search performance, we do not operate a behavioral analytics tracker.

How long we keep data

Hosting and security logs are retained for a limited period by our host and then rotated out. Emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to handle your request and any follow-up. Consent cookies expire on the schedule listed in the Cookie Policy.

Who we share data with

We do not sell or rent your personal information. Data is processed only by the service providers that make the site function — our web host, the Amazon Associates Program (for affiliate links you click), and YouTube/Google (for embedded videos you choose to load). Each of these has its own privacy policy.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the EU/UK GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal data we hold, the right to request a copy, the right to ask us to correct or delete it, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. Because we do not maintain user accounts, in most cases the only personal data we hold is what you have emailed us. To make a request, contact contact@dodgecheckenginelight.com and we will respond within a reasonable time.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be reflected here, so it is worth checking back occasionally.
