2018 Dodge Durango Check Engine Light: What to Do
The 2018 Durango monitors ignition, EVAP, emissions and 8HP transmission systems. When the MIL turns on, follow these steps:
- Scan for DTCs: Record codes, freeze-frame data, fuel trims and Mode $06$ misfire counters.
- Inspect high-failure items: Coils and plugs, EVAP hoses, throttle body cleanliness, battery/ground integrity.
- Repair: Address the root cause (misfire, leak, sensor fault). For transmission-related P1DF3, check ATF level and perform Quick Learn.
- Clear & drive: Use a scan tool to clear the MIL. Complete a mixed city/highway drive to reset readiness monitors.
Respond immediately to a flashing MIL—reduce throttle to protect the catalytic converters and diagnose the misfire.
